Xekong Coal Mining Project
Phonesack Group was granted concession rights by the Government of Lao PDR to develop coal resources in Xekong and Salavan Provinces for electricity generation and high-grade coal export.
Determined to explore the rich coal deposits in the Xekong and Salavan Provinces for the purposes of electricity production and export of high-grade coal, Phonesack Group was eventually granted concession rights by the Government of Lao PDR in September 2010, to undertake the coal prospecting, exploration, exploitation and production activities for export and electricity production, with a total defined area of 1,000 km2 which is divided into two blocks of 500 sq. kms each to facilitate exploration and mining activities.
The Kaleum Coal Mine Project is located about 700 kms south-east of the Vientiane Capital, and runs along the border line of Salavan and Xekong Provinces stretching from the south of Kaleum District around Ban Pahung and Ban Chanam to the south of Ta-Oy District and almost reaching Ban Padou.

After years of extensive survey and exploration works and proven coal reserves and resources for sale as well as for power production, Phonesack Group signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Electricité du Cambodge (EDC) in 2019 for the sale of power from a designated 3x600 MW Power Plant. Additionally, Phonesack Group is also set to build a 2x150 MW Power Plant for domestic consumption, and signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Electricite du Laos (EDL) in April 2023.
