Phonesack Group invests in agriculture to support rural communities in Lao PDR through sustainable farming solutions.
As agriculture is critical to the survival and sustainability of the rural communities in Lao PDR, Phonesack Group began investing in this industry, with the aim to help the local farmers and communities with sustainable farming solutions.
Chaleun Agricultural Farm
Phonesack Group established the Chaleun Agricultural Development Project on the outskirts of Vientiane Capital to help develop programs that could be duplicated and introduced throughout the nation, to help Lao farmers increase productivity and sustainability of their communities. Demonstration programs at the Chaleun Project are designed to show the benefits of sustainable organic farming and animal husbandry practices for the locals and others who considered careers in farming. The project included organic vegetable farming, animal husbandry and organic rice farming.
Bamboo Plantation Project
Phonesack Group has also invested extensively in bamboo plantations across many provinces in Lao PDR, spanning an aggregated total of about 1,179 hectares. Two bamboo processing plants have been set up in Pakkading and Vienthong Districts respectively, whereby canned bamboo shoots, bamboo furniture and handicrafts manufactured will be exported mainly to Vietnam and China.
